It was a pleasant Friday afternoon at Bendigo, then race three, Forty Two Below gets backed from 6s to 2s, make you look up and ridden by Peter Hutchinson, makes you look up more.
Well trained by Colin Little, this gelding by Bel Esprit, jumps in front, streets 'em in the straight and eases up to win by a couple of lengths, this must be one of the better 2nd crop horses to race so far.
Out of a Danehill mare, Danish (AUS) 1992, and sold as a weanling at the Ingles Sales in June 2006 for $17,000, this could be an exciting horse. The other Danehill / Danamani (AUS) 1995 horse to win was Bellagio Bel who put up an incredible performance on 17/9/07 when he flew home from last in a field of eleven at Wodonga in that short straight.
A full brother to Forty Two Below was passed in for $33,000 with a reserve of $40,000 at the Perth Magic Millions Yearling sales in February this year.
