Black Caviar 28/04/09

Black Caviar Offers A Taste Of Spring
Virtual Formguide
Exciting two-year-old filly Black Caviar will give a further insight into her spring prospects when she runs in Saturday's Blue Sapphire Stakes at Caulfield.
A $210,000 Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale purchase, Black Caviar impressed with a five-length win over Kwassa Kwassa with another Blue Sapphire nomination Take The Rap third, at her debut over 1000m on April 18.
"She's always shown us a good deal of ability at home," said trainer Peter Moody who has had his best season with juveniles, winning the Blue Diamond Stakes with Reward For Effort, while stablemate Headway was runner-up in the Golden Slipper.
"She has taken a while to get to the races due to a couple of minor setbacks, but she pulled up well after Flemington and I'd like to run her once more to try and boost her prizemoney.
"I think she can be a player certainly in the early spring when the stakes races are on for the fillies and to run in those races you need prizemoney in the bank."
Black Caviar is by successful stallion Bel Esprit and her grand-dam is Scandinavia, the dam of Group One winner Magnus and Group Two winner Wilander.
There were 17 entries for the Listed 1200m race including the Tony Vasil-trained Carrara, who won on protest from Tollesprit(by Bel Esprit) at his debut over 1000m at Seymour; and Quietzer, prepared by David Hayes, who won on debut at Moonee Valley in a 1000m fillies race, both earlier this month.
