Sold for $22,500 at the Inglis Sales In Sydney in February 2007, Bondi Lad had a trial at Cranbourne in July 2008 and it must have been very impressive because he was then sold to Hong Kong interests for $100,000.
He was beaton in a photo finish in his first two races over 1000m and on Wednesday night at Happy Valley he won his 1st race. Jumping well, he went to the front only to be headed as the horses came around the bend to enter the straight, he then shook off the leader and raced clear only to be nearly caught on the 
line.
