BELS ON TRIAL
Rich Esprit certainly lived up to her pedigree in her first public showing on Monday (13 October).
Stepping out over 800m in a Cranbourne trial, the Bel Esprit filly won with plenty in hand and looks poised for a prosperous spring.
Trained at Caulfield by Peter Moody, Rich Esprit is out of the Group winning 2YO, Millrich, and is a half brother to the multiple stakeswinning Danehill stallion Danerich.
Rich Esprit’s year old half brother (by Encosta de Lago) was sold by Eliza Park at the Gold Coast Magic Millions to Robbie Laing for $725,000.
The Shane Nichols trained Beau Desert (by Bel Esprit from Straight Strike mare Desert Strike) was also appearing for the first time at the Cranbourne trials and, although finishing a neck second, wasn’t pushed at any stage and is another who should show up before spring has fully sprung.
Beau Desert is a half brother to three winners including the Desert Sun stakeswinner Real Time. It’s certainly been a big week for the Bel Esprits.
