SHE'LL BE APPLES
Great day at the office yesterday for Bel Esprit with two winners and a second from just three runners.
Esprit de Roses scored the bikkies at Morphettville and I’m Elite just got pipped at Ascot, while Apple Esprit grabbed a deserved victory at Yarra Valley.
Trained by Steve McKinnon, who prepares the mare on behalf of the Nardoo Valley Syndicate, Apple Esprit proved far too for her rivals over the 1000m journey, winning by over 2 lengths.
Apple Esprit has had her hoof on the till from day one, grabbing seconds at Moe and Yarra Valley earlier in the year before an uncharacteristic seventh at Moonee Valley.
Yesterday’s win was only Apple Esprit’s fourth outing and her first run back in over eight months.
As the name would suggest, Apple Esprit is by Champion Victorian Sire Bel Esprit, from the Zeditave mare, Zapple, in turn a daughter of 5-time stakeswinner Apple Danish. Apple Danish is a full sister to the unraced, yet deliciously named Strudel!
