Cascabel Comes Back For Creswick
Thursday, 4 June 2009: Honest galloper Cascabel will back up on Saturday at Flemington in the Listed Creswick Stakes (1200m).The Robbie Griffiths-trained gelding raced at the same track last weekend but has done well during the week and will step up to his biggest test to date from seven career starts.
The three-year-old is yet to run a bad race and has weighed in at all his starts, including two wins over the 1200m journey.Last weekend, over 1400m, he sat off the pace but in nothing more than a sprint home, held his own when a three length fourth behind Rock Home Late and Burley Griffen, who were the first two turning.
“He's backing up but is in superb order and has a great appetite,” stable foreman Robert Kingston said.“He's coming back to 1200m but both his wins have been over the distance and he's a pretty straightforward horse with a high cruising speed.
“Last week was a funnily run race looking at the sectionals but we don't think he'll have any problem with the straight and he should be hard to hold out.”Kingston said Cascabel , a son of Bel Esprit, would return to 1400m at his next start.
